This October, I taught Writing Grants for the Common Good with the Idaho Nonprofit Center. Over four Tuesday mornings, nonprofit professionals from across Idaho brought common questions to the table.
“We don’t have time for grants.”
Most organizations don’t. A grants toolkit keeps your case for support, program data, budget, financials, and board list in one place. Each proposal draws from work already done.
“We don’t know where to start.”
Start with readiness. Funders look for a clear case for support, results over time, a current budget, recent financials, and an engaged board. Building those first strengthens every application that follows.
“Is the right funding out there for us?”
Yes. Finding it takes focused research. A funder’s past grants, stated priorities, and typical award size can tell you more than its mission statement.
“How do funders see us?”
Read your proposal through the funder’s eyes. They are investing in outcomes that advance their mission, aligned with yours. Your job is to show how your work delivers those outcomes.
“What is happening with federal funding?”
Federal grants are shifting quickly. Read each funding notice closely, confirm current guidance, and build compliance into your budget and systems before you apply.
Every question points to the same truth: strong grants come from strong organizations, and
strong organizations are built alongside the people who support them.
At Premio, transformational grant work begins with clarity.
Thank you to Idaho Nonprofit Center and everyone who joined the workshop series this Fall.
